Valletta..

The bus ride to Valletta was of course an experience again but I have already talked about that fun realness. When we got to Valletta we couldn’t believe the beauty of this amazing city, the old buildings made with maltese limestone with a touch of modern where unbelievable to look at. Everywhere you look there is something amazing architecturally about the city , we continued to walk around and take in the sites. We then arrived at the most amazing gardens that overlooked the harbours of Valletta and the three cities, this is where you can see that Malta was built to be a fort during the war, the history involved in this country is so intriguing and definitely a place to visit if you are a history buff.

We looked in a few shops in Valletta but there are not many modern shops here like most cities, it is mostly small local shops and alot of hand made crafts which are perfect for gifts and souvenirs. I felt very relaxed there in Valletta as there are not any people trying to push you to buy there products, this gives a more relaxed environment that is perfect on holiday.

For dinner we went to a local ‘British’ pub , this served traditional British dishes along with a few Maltese dishes. I ordered the fish and chips that came out fairly fast and looked huge, the food was delicious and very reasonable for the money.

As the day went on we were exhausted so our next plan was the bus home. Falling asleep and trying to stay awake so I didn’t miss my stop was my next task, the buses in the evenings are very full and hot! Finally back at the hotel and definitely failing to be the party animal I should be at 25 we decided to call it a night!!

Our next day adventure awaited us..

The first day..

The first day in Malta was full of joy and excitement! We arrived at our hotel and quickly realised we were so out of the way! There was not much to see around our hotel apart from the beautiful view of the bay (even though our balcony overlooked houses). The hotel was clean and the staff where very friendly but lacked any information that they should have provided! Exploration time as hunger approched, as we walked one direction from our hotel we soon realised there was nothing there and we turned around and walked the opposite direction! We walked and walked and walked until finally and hour later we came to a restaurant! Looking at the menu we where excited so we took our chances and it payed off apart from a little lack of service! During dinner we looked outside to realize it was pouring with rain… (We came to Malta to escape the rain) . After dinner we made a break for it in the rain to then hop in to a nearby hotel and order a taxi.. the taxi man showed up in a huge rush and ordered the €15 euro up front to then drive like a mad man the whole way back . In Malta you are definitely taking your life in your hands getting any type of transport! Finally arrived back at the hotel in one piece and headed for a good night’s sleep in a rock hard bed with very humid conditions!

Exploration day number 2……

St Pauls bay!
